Waiters Discriminate Against Black People For Not Tipping Well
Waiters Discriminate Against Black People For Not Tipping Well
How many of you tip 20% or more???
Most people would like to believe that racial discrimination is becoming increasingly rare and unacceptable in mainstream society. But a new study suggests that African-Americans still face subtle prejudice in at least one area of life – dining out. A survey of waiters in North Carolina revealed that nearly two-fifths admitted to treating customers differently depending on their race.
And as many as 90 per cent said they had participated in or overheard racially charged conversations among their co-workers. ‘Many people believe that race is no longer a significant issue in the United States,’ says Sarah Rusche, a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at NC State and co-author of a paper describing the study.
‘But the fact that a third of servers admit to varying their quality of service based on customers’ race, often giving African-Americans inferior service, shows that race continues to be an issue in our society.’
The article, which is published in the Journal of Black Studies, reported the results of a survey of 200 servers at 18 different restaurants in the state. Many of the waiters questioned said they perceived African-Americans to be less polite than others, while some added that they thought black diners tipped less generously.
These beliefs led 38.5 per cent of the waiters – a large majority of whom were white – to admit that they adjusted the quality of their service based on the race of their customers. And 52.8 per cent of those surveyed said they had seen their colleagues discriminate against African-Americans. ‘Race continues to be a significant barrier to equal treatment in restaurants and other areas of social life.’
Internet users had mixed reactions to the controversial findings. One commenter, who claimed to be a black waiter himself, wrote: ‘I am embarrassed at the seemingly deliberate ignorance of African-Americans when it comes to tipping.’ However, another warned against stereotyping an entire race based on pre-conceptions, describing the behaviour depicted in the study as ‘the definition of racism’.

Jackson Family Wants Michael Jackson Hologram
As if we couldn’t get enough of this hologram stuff, the Jacksons have tried their hands at attention sloring for their own personal gain.
Jackie told E! Online, “I just wish Michael was here with us, but I’m sure his spirit will be in the house. [The next tour] could have Michael—absolutely. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? As a matter of fact, we had that [hologram] idea two years ago for Michael’s Cirque du Soleil show.”
“There are so many songs. That’s the hardest part because we want to include all the favorites and not leave anything out. We’re going to sing some of Michael’s stuff, too. We’re going to honor him on the stage. He’d want us to do our thing to the best of our ability.”
Sigh. Just, don’t. Go on your little 27-city tour and enjoy your 10 fans a city. We’ll just be honoring Michael’s death the right way. Without holograms!!! The way it should be.

THE TANZANIA WE WANT...
Okay so jana and leo has been quite an experience to watch the parliamentary session going on..
We have heard the honourable wabunges voice out "wanyongwe" to others advocating for vote of no confidence..I must say most of them went all out...Sakaya, Bura, the self proclaimed philanthropist Zitto Kabwe...
from the ghost companies, to the efficiency and effectiveness of TBS to our national airline..
I am admiring the boldness with which they have addressed the issues..hii issue ya kukaguliwa na magari kutoka Japan..kwa kweli BLASPHEMY!!
and foul they say! do away with them they say! I SAY YES!
2012 should be a beginning of a new era...we have this awakening that is spreading like wildfire...even the majority of illiterate Tanzanians now see that we need change, and should do away with our beloved wazees who have been rotating themselves withing all these governmental departments..
I ask though, with 3 years left in his reign, should JK use this as an opportunity to prove to Tanzanians that they did not make a mistake when they chose him in 2005?
In PR we say, if there is ever a time to do rebranding it is now!!! and no, his looks are fine, although he be wrinkling of late..but much love..

Hello dearies..
Hope all has been well with you...I am not even sure if anybody comes here anymore, but if you stumble and find yourself here, karibu...I realise I went awol but forgive, life got the best of me...however..I intend to be availalble in here as much as I can..
During my absenc in here, I had a lot of time to observe on what has been going in social circles..
For Dar es Salaamians, we have had quite a few scandals that has kept the city talking..starting with the death of Tanzania's bongo movies star, Steven Kanumba..it was shocking indeed..the day of his passing, I was with someone who got the call at 3'o clock in the morning..it was indeed shocking, and I couldnt help but wonder of the circumstances that led to his tragic death..which ofcourse has been the cover page for our beloved tabloids..

and this luscious looking lady has been proclaimed guilty by the same tabloids following her presence during Kanumba's demise..aint she pretty though..
Can I just say that i think its irrelevant to talk about how she led her life before she turned 18 because there is nothing that can be done...if she is 18, that means whatever she had with the departed was consensual and therefore none of them should be judged for being in a relationship, hell I have grandfathers who married my grandmothers when they were only 16..and although its not the medieval times no more, we still see this...so shoosh!
Oh well..I pray for her soul, for as much I as believe she did not murder him, I also believe his death will weigh heavy on her conscious for a longgggggggggggggg time! hope all goes well with her case..I would get some really good lawyers if I were her, the likes of Alan Shore from Boston Legal..

Rihanna Happy Chris Brown’s Restraining Order Has Expired By Kenrya Rankin The singer eased restriction to make Brown’s life easier.

Rihanna revealed her feelings about Chris Brown’s relaxed probation order in her Rolling Stone cover story. She says she agreed to let the judge ease the order because she didn’t want their personal issues to continue to affect his career.
"It doesn’t mean we’re gonna make up, or even talk again. It just means I didn’t want to object to the judge,” Rihanna said. “We don’t have to talk ever again in my life. I just didn’t want to make it more difficult for him professionally. What he did was a personal thing—it had nothing to do with his career. Saying he has to be a hundred feet away from me, he can’t perform at awards shows—that definitely made it difficult for him.”
Last month, the judge removed the provision of Brown’s probation that requires him to stay 50 yards away from the pop singer (10 yards during industry events). The revised order will be in affect until August 2014.
